Happy Movement
I’m happy to elected as a female member of ward no 6 Palhinandan rural municipality Nawalparasi. As being female member of local government, I’ve a challenges to fight against poverty and social inclusion of the dalit and backward community of Sanai. This is my challenges and opportunity too.
Landidevi Harijan age 45 basically from Palhinandan rural municipality 6 Sanai. Her family is poor and Dalit. 3 daughters and 2 sons was in her family, 3 daughters have already got married and small son studding in class 5 in Sanai. Her first son had died at the age of 20. She has only 15 dhur land for farming and housing. Her husband Mr. Jamun Harijan went foreign employment in Malaysia since 2 years.
In 2015 she has joined the Sanai REFLECT center and actively participate weekly discussion till six months. After six months she wants to be a treasurer of Sanai SHG but most of members are not agreeing with her as a treasurer. She also happy with SHG as being member without vital key position. In SHG she has learn about social issue and many more. She knows about being poverty and made family development plan to improve her family economic and social condition. She started to business of a small fruit shop in her village. She wants to run small glossary business too. She has a plan to build own home.
During the election nomination period she has get offer to nominate a female dalit member from CPN Maoist. She discusses with SHG members for election and all of the member suggest her to nomination, she finally decided to nominate as a dalit member of Palhinandan rural municipality ward no 6. During the election advertisement period she has visited all of the 14 SHGs of Sanai VDC, she committed to work with women and social development. All SHG members assure her to support. Election was conducted and she was happy when the election result was out. She is being elected as a dalit member of Palhinandan rural municipality ward no 6. After election she participated in planning process and she inforce to skill based training for women and success to allocated swing cutting and embroidery training. Similaly she success to allocate bore and pump set for poor family.
KOIKA has running program in rural city development program in Sanai at that program there is provision of constriction home. She forces them to construct Sanai SHG’s 8 poor members home construct. Finally, KOIKA agree with her. KOIKA has a provision of 2 room and one kitchen room construction of each and payment base on the actual cost and cost limit is 8 lakhs. Now she is happy, she is committed to do work for her community poor and dalit people.
